Our parks and reserves make great locations for birthday parties.
Parks and reserves are available for everyone to enjoy and cannot be booked for exclusive use.
Our regional-level parks and reserves have large playgrounds, picnic shelters, BBQs, toilets, car parking and plenty of room for party games and running around.

Regional-level parks and reserves
Our parks and reserves are community open space and are available for everyone to enjoy on a non-exclusive basis. Unless your event is for more than 100 people, you do not need to book.
Parks and reserves are cleaned and mowed on a regular maintenance program. We will not provide special mowing or services of the area before your event. We do not issue gate keys or unlock gates for private functions.

Personal Trainers can apply for a permit which allows you to operate in certain open spaces around Sutherland Shire.
Access to our picnic shelters and barbecues is on a first come, first served basis. You are welcome to decorate your picnic table as you like! Please put your rubbish in the bins provided when your celebration has ended.

If you would like to book a sports oval for a birthday party, head to our booking site. Select “Sports Grounds”, “Event” and “Date” to begin your enquiry.
Please note that:
- Our ovals are heavily used for organised sport. Our Sports Services Unit can provide assistance with finding an unallocated oval for your party or event. Contact them at sport@ssc.nsw.gov.au.
- Our ovals are community open space and you will not have exclusive use of the oval even with a booking.
- No infrastructure such as marquees may be placed on the ovals.
- You will need public liability insurance for $20 million.

Bubble soccer can be played at a number of sports ovals and at Miranda Park. These sites must be booked through us. Evidence of public liability insurance for $20 million must be provided by you or the bubble soccer hire company before your booking will be approved. To make a booking head to our booking page.
You are welcome to put up one small marquee, no larger than 6m x 3m. Please ensure guide ropes are not trip hazards. For more information, please contact us and ask to speak to a member of the Open Space Assets team.
Inflatables are not permitted in our parks or reserves for private use. for permission to have an inflatable at a community or corporate event, please apply to hold an event and complete the online temporary application form. You will be contacted by a member of our Events team.
Menai Indoor Sport Centre is a great location for indoor parties. All food including the birthday cake is BYO, with a fridge available for food storage. Courts can be set up for netball, soccer or basketball by the centre. Please note parties are not supervised by staff.
Our pools at Caringbah, Engadine and Sutherland are heated and parties are welcome all year round. Our Splash Park at Sutherland Leisure Centre is a seasonal service from October to March.
