Sutherland Shire boasts a range of dog-friendly locations.
Dogs must be on a leash at all times unless you're in a designated off-leash area. On-leash or off, it is your responsibility to ensure your dog is always under control. Not everyone is comfortable around dogs and our public spaces should be safe and comfortable for everyone.
Be responsible and always pick up after your dog.
We have eight dog off-leash parks and beaches in Sutherland Shire, some of which include water, shade, seating, clean-up bags and bins. Dogs must be on-leash when entering and leaving an off-leash area.
Please check the signs at each location for off-leash times and other regulations.

Sailing with dogs
While your dog might love sailing as much as you do, sometimes leaving them at home is best for your dog and the environment.
There are a few places where you should not bring your dog. One place is Deeban Spit, Maianbar, where dogs are prohibited to assist in protecting shorebirds. For more information on how you can help to protect our threatened shorebirds, read Shore Birds are on the Move.
Dogs are also not allowed in the Royal National Park. To find out why, follow this link.
