On behalf of the Department of Home Affairs, Sutherland Shire Council hosts regular citizenship ceremonies to welcome new Australians into our community.
Citizenship ceremonies are by invitation only and not open to the public to attend.
To attend a citizenship ceremony
- Apply to become an Australian citizen through the Department of Home Affairs
- Once your application for citizenship has been approved the Department of Home Affairs will email you an invitation to attend your citizenship ceremony.

* Dates subject to change. Ceremonies are confirmed 3 - 4 weeks from the scheduled date.
Please note Conferees are allocated to ceremonies by the Department of Home Affairs, Council cannot invite you to or change your ceremony date. You have 12 months from your approved date to attend a ceremony. The Department of Home Affairs will email invitations 3 weeks prior to a ceremony. Please ensure you complete the RSVP form link in your invitation to confirm or decline your attendance.
