Did you know that the Sutherland Shire has over 25,000 residents who reported being a volunteer in 2021?

We value our volunteers, and the contribution they make to our community. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in your lives and the lives of others. It’s a great way to develop skills, create new social networks, meet like-minded people and be actively engaged in the community.

We offer several opportunities for volunteering. View opportunities to volunteer with Council below:

Apply to volunteer with our Bushcare team

Apply to volunteer with our Animal Shelter team

Apply to volunteer with Hazelhurst Arts Centre

Apply to volunteer for Duke of Edinburgh with the Libraries

Not interested in the above? Find additional volunteering opportunities across the community and training resources through The Centre for Volunteering.

National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week is Australia's largest annual celebration of volunteering and will be held on the 20 to 26 May 2024. The theme for National Volunteer Week 2024 is 'Something for Everyone'. For more information visit Volunteering Australia.

We will be holding a free Volunteer Week Expo for the community to connect with local service providers on volunteering opportunities. Visit Gymea Tradies on the 24th of May and meet with local groups for various opportunities to support the community.

Does your organisation or group offer volunteering opportunities? Register for a free stall by the 22nd of April.
