Events with alcohol
Alcohol Free Zones and Alcohol Prohibited Areas are restrictions on the possession and consumption of alcohol in public places. They are established by council and enforced by the police.
If you are holding an event at an alcohol prohibited area you can request in your event application for permission to provide alcohol, with an Alcohol Management Plan for the duration of the event.
Alcohol free zones
- In Alcohol Free Zones alcohol can be possessed but not consumed.
- Alcohol Free Zones relate to roads, footpaths and public car parks.
Alcohol prohibited area
- In Alcohol Prohibited Areas it is prohibited to consume alcohol, or possess it with the intent to consume.
- Alcohol Prohibited Areas relate to parks, reserves and beaches.
Penalties
Any person caught consuming alcohol in a designated Alcohol Free Zone or Alcohol Prohibited Area may have their alcohol confiscated and tipped out by the police.

To view the locations of alcohol restricted areas go to Shire Maps and select "Alcohol Free/Prohibited Areas" from the "Maps" menu.
