Early Opening Trial For Cafes In Cronulla, Gymea and Kirrawee CBD Precincts

Published On 09 March 2017 at 12:00 PM

On Monday 13 March Sutherland Shire Council will commence a six month trial allowing cafés in Cronulla, Kirrawee and Gymea central business districts the opportunity serve customers from 5:30am.

Conditions will apply to businesses who chose to participate in the trial, including noise considerations to neighbours and no outdoor seating or dining until 6:30am.

Cafés included in the program are located in the Cronulla Centre, Gymea Bay Road between President Avenue and Kingsway and Oak Road, Kirrawee between President Avenue and Flora Street.

Participation in the trial will only be available to qualifying businesses and will be voluntary.  Eligible businesses will be contacted by Council directly, and nearby residents will be notified of the business’ availability to participate.

Feedback from businesses will be assessed at the conclusion of the trial on 17 September 2017.  Consideration will then be given to a review of Council’s draft Development Control Plan to allow cafes to apply for permanent earlier opening hours.

For a full list of the conditions which apply to participating businesses during the trial period, visit Council’s website and follow the links in the ‘Business’ panel.
