Life thrives here.
At Sutherland Shire Council, you'll do more than gain a qualification. You'll help shape the community where people live, work and play.
Whether you're starting as a cadet, apprentice or trainee, you'll gain hands-on experience, learn from industry professionals and contribute to projects that make a difference every day.
Many of our apprentices, trainees and cadets have gone on to build rewarding careers with Council and across government and private industry. Your journey could start here.

Over three to four years, you'll work alongside skilled trade professionals while gaining a nationally recognised qualification in fields such as horticulture, civil construction, and sports turf management.
Traineeships
Build valuable skills and experience through a traineeship, combining hands-on learning with a nationally recognised qualification in areas such as business administration, childcare, safety, and animal care.
Traineeships typically run for one to two years, giving you the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and build a strong foundation for your career.
Cadetships
Kick-start your professional career with a cadetship designed for university students in their penultimate (second-last) or final year.
Over up to two years, you'll gain practical industry experience aligned with your studies while you complete your degree.
