NSW Government in collaboration with Sutherland Shire Council will be proudly offering another round of apprentice, trainee and cadet positions in May 2025.

Office of Local Government - Local Council Apprentice and Trainee Campaign

Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships last up to four years and you'll gain practical experience in trade-type roles, working alongside skilled professionals.
At the same time, you will work towards completing a qualification in your chosen field. We offer apprenticeships in various areas such as horticulture and civil construction.
Traineeships
Traineeships last one to two years and you'll gain practical experience in a council role working alongside skilled professionals.
At the same time, you will work towards completing a qualification in your chosen field. We can offer traineeships in various areas such as business administration, finance, safety, childcare or animal shelter.
Cadetships
Cadetships last up to two years and you’ll gain practical experience relevant to your university studies. You must be in either your penultimate (second last year) or final year of university studies to be eligible for a cadetship. While you work, you will continue to complete your university studies.
