Michelle Whitehurst, Director Shire Services

Michelle commenced her role in June 2019, bringing over 20 years of experience in local government and civil construction.

Previously, Michelle was the Manager Project Delivery at Georges River Council and has held various positions at the former Hurstville City Council including Manager Engineering Services and Acting Director Service Delivery.

Michelle has extensive expertise across the portfolio of frontline services and brings a strong executive experience working in diverse and evolving organisations. Michelle holds a Bachelor Civil Engineering, Masters of Engineering Management and Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies. Michelle is a Member of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (NSW) Innovation Panel and is also a casual academic at the University of Technology Sydney.

As Director of Shire Services, Michelle is responsible for:

  • leisure centres
  • public safety and lifeguards
  • arts and culture (including performing arts and Hazelhurst Arts Centre)
  • children’s services
  • libraries
  • business
  • sport and community services.
