TUE 20 AUG 2024 - New Kirrawee library project set to be a major ‘plus’ for local residents
Consultation with our community
Located in South Village, we are designing and fitting out a 1500m2 ground floor area which will become a new technology focused Library.
Council consulted with the local community between 15 May to 30 June 2023 about the plans for an exciting new community space at South Village. We thank you for your feedback that has helped shaped this exciting new space. Find out more.
Project scope
We are working with architects, design specialists and builder to create a new state-of-the-art facility.
Library+ will offer a flexible community space to celebrate digital storytelling by providing:
- study, co-working and meeting spaces
- bookable spaces for events and screenings
- creative studios for video and sound recording
- books
- children's space.
Impacts during construction
Work is starting mid-August 2024 and completed by April 2025. Work hours will be Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm and occasional Saturday work between 8am and 3pm.
A work zone will be in place during construction and pedestrian traffic may be diverted during deliveries.
Funding
This project is funded by the NSW Government's Accelerated Infrastructure Fund in association with the State Library of NSW from their Public Library Infrastructure Grant, Cleanaway Voluntary Planning Agreement contribution funds and Sutherland Shire Council.
