We are upgrading the wharf infrastructure in Dolans Bay.

752 Port Hacking Rd, Dolans Bay, NSW 2229

Project timeline

Design completion: June 2026

Expected construction start:  early 2027

Project scope

We are upgrading the access to the waterway at this popular location, to make it easier to launch kayaks, canoes and paddleboards.

The work includes:

  • Removal of the existing wharf, pontoon and gangway.
  • Installation of a new concrete wharf, aluminium gangway and pontoon.
  • Provision of a new small craft launching ramp.

This will improve safety, accessibility and usability for local boaters, visitors and families, while also supporting our emergency services.

We are continuing to await the necessary approvals from external authorities before we proceed with engaging a contractor.

Funding

This project is proudly supported by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) under their 'NSW Boating Infrastructure for Communities' Program in association with Sutherland Shire Council.

Frequently Asked Questions

The existing wharf and pontoon are due for replacement to ensure the structure remains sound and safe for our community to use.

Yes, the boat ramp will remain open unless the preferred contractor needs to use it for access during construction of the pontoon.

Our design completion is contingent upon receipt of the necessary authority approvals.  We are planning for the construction to start in early 2027, subject to these consents, procurement timing and weather permitting.

No, this will not be available whilst we carry out the replacement of the wharf, it's connecting gangway and the floating pontoon.  We appreciate your patience while we carry out this improvement work.
