The security of the information we hold on behalf of the community is a key priority for us.

We take cyber security seriously with an approach that follows trusted frameworks and standards such as:

  • ISO 27001 Information Security Management System
  • NSW Government and Federal Government legislation and compliance
  • Local Government cyber security recommendations and guidelines.

We do this through:

  • Cyber security policies and strategies
  • Cyber security training and awareness programs
  • Active partnerships with Cyber Security NSW, Australian Cyber Security Centre, and other NSW local councils
  • Independent testing and scanning
  • Risk assessment and monitoring
  • Business continuity testing.

To help you stay safe, please remember:

  • We will never ask you to click on a link in an email or text you weren’t expecting.
  • We will always send emails from an official email address ending in:  @ssc.nsw.gov.au
  • We will never ask for your personal or financial details through email, text, or social media.
  • Always check our website and social media pages for updates before acting on any strange looking emails or messages.
  • Always check who sent it before clicking on any links or downloading files.

If you receive a strange message pretending to be Sutherland Shire Council, do not respond. Instead, report it to us.
