Our application tracker gives you access to information about a range of applications, including development applications (DAs) and complying development applications (CDCs).

You'll also be able to lodge submissions in relation to notified DAs - check out the instructions below to help navigate our new online services environment.

To search for more information about an application:

  1. Enter an application number or property address in the search box of the application tracker.
  2. Select 'Search' and choose the application.
  3. Select 'View' to see more information about the application.
  4. Select 'Attachments' to review the list of available documents, and download the document you wish to view.

Please note that:

  • Documents are not available online for complying development certificates (CDC).
  • It will take until 31 August 2026 for the tracker to show documents relevant to all development applications (DAs) lodged since 1 July 2024.
  • From 1 September 2026, DA documents will be progressively removed in relation to DAs where more than two years has passed since the determination of the DA.

See below for how to access the historic DA, or CDC, documents.

You can access documents related to recent development applications at our application tracker. See the question above for more information as to what constitutes a recent DA.

Our approach seeks to balance public access to information with Council's obligations under privacy, copyright and information management legislation.

Members of the public who require access to older DA documents, or documents related to a complying development certificate, may request access by lodging an Open Access Information Request with us under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act).

Access will be provided where appropriate and may be subject to conditions.

In some cases, access may be limited to inspection only where copyright restrictions prevent us from reproducing or distributing documents.

Information on the application's address, number and key processing dates will remain on our application tracker on an ongoing basis.

This includes any comments or submissions we have received when determining a development application.

In making its final decision, Council must balance the interests of the community, the reasonable expectations and rights of the applicant and any other considerations imposed by legislation.

You will be informed of amendments to an application when re-notification is warranted, including where amended plans increase the potential for an amenity impact.

In such cases your further comments will be sought prior to the matter being finally determined.

Changes to development application notification

The NSW Government has introduced a new Statewide Community Participation Plan which has resulted in changes to the system of development application notification and exhibition across NSW, including in the Sutherland Shire.

As a result of this plan, from 1 September 2026 we will no longer notify some types of development application. This includes the following development types, where they comply with height and floor space controls:

  • Attached dwellings (up to five dwellings)
  • Dual occupancies (up to two storeys)
  • Dwelling house (up to two storeys)
  • Demolition
  • Multi-dwelling housing (up to five dwellings)
  • Secondary dwellings (that is granny flats)
  • Land subdivision resulting in no more than five new lots

To find out a full list of development types which are excluded from public exhibition, see page 24 of the NSW Government’s Community Participation Plan.

All recent applications can still be tracked through Council’s development application tracker.

These changes are being made in line with the Statewide Community Participation Plan, which supersedes the secions in our Community Engagement Strategy in relation to notification and exhbition of these application types.

The NSW Government has stated that the Statewide Community Participation Plan is designed to create a clear and consistent approach to development application notification across NSW, and to speed up planning outcomes.
