On 13 July 2026, Council endorsed a Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP) for Cronulla to support a safer, more vibrant and sustainable night-time economy. Read the Council report here.
Cronulla will now be the State’s first beachside SEP.
The SEP will create a clear and consistent framework for entertainment-related sound limits and business trading hours and enable more live music, creative lifestyle and dining activities.
The SEP will also ensure residents continue to enjoy reasonable amenity.
The establishment of the SEP follows engagement on a proposed Precinct Management Plan in March and April 2026.
Council is now preparing to commence the SEP, which is expected to take place in late Winter 2026. This and other Council web pages will be updated with additional information before the SEP commences.
The SEP will be subject to a 12-month trial, to ensure any unintended impacts or implementation issues can be reviewed before a decision is made whether to support the SEP on an ongoing basis.
Find out more about SEPs at this NSW Government website.
This project has been proudly funded by the NSW Government.

Cronulla Special Entertainment Precinct engagement
During March and April 2026, we sought community feedback on a draft Planning Proposal for the Cronulla Entertainment Precinct, including a draft Precinct Management Plan.
During June 2026, we sought community feedback on changes to our Development Control Plan to facilitate the SEP.
Precinct Working Group
We have established a Precinct Working Group (PWG). The PWG has an important role ensuring community members, businesses and other key stakeholders have input into the SEP’s establishment and operation.
The PWG held its first meeting on 25 March 2026.
