Council offers a great variety of affordable social, recreational and leisure activities for all ages.

  • Our Libraries provide an endless source of books and services including; audio or e-books, a home library service, computer and internet help, family history resources, knitting groups and a local studies collection of the Shire. They also run a range of seminars and events. 
  • Our Leisure Centres offer aquatic and fitness based facilities and activities for active seniors. The GP Referral Scheme provides eligible seniors assistance to improve their physical activity levels through safe and supervised exercise programs.
  • Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre houses an exciting range of exhibitions and runs a variety of art classes throughout the year. For film buffs there is a Film Club, or for those looking for other ways to get involved there is the Friends of Hazelhurst community
  • Sutherland Entertainment Centre holds top quality local and international shows to suit all tastes.  It also hosts monthly Wednesday lunch or dinner movie specials.  During Seniors Week make sure you come along to the annual seniors luncheon.

Sutherland Shire Aged Care Services

There are a range of aged care services in Sutherland Shire that can help you remain independent, living in your own home and participate in the community available through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme. My Aged Care

My Aged Care is a Government website and phone line to help you find out what aged care services may be available to help you. It provides information on services, eligibility, assessments, fees and referrals to local service providers.
