How long does account approval take?

Organisation and individual registrations are generally reviewed within 2 business days.

Why can I sign in but not access online services?

After setting up your account, you'll have limited access until your registration has been reviewed and approved by our team.

What happens after my registration is approved?

You'll receive a welcome email confirming that your account is active and ready to use.

How do I get help with my online account?

When can I sign in to my account?

You can sign in after:

  • your registration has been approved by our team
  • you've received the Portal Invite email
  • you've created a password using the registration link

Will additional organisation contacts receive an invitation?

Yes. Additional contacts added to the organisation's account will receive a Portal Invite email to complete their account setup.

What if I haven't received my Portal Invite email?

Check your junk or spam folder first. If you still can't find the email within 2 days, contact us for assistance.

How do I get help with my online account?

Check the FAQs and if you still need assistance:

Password help

  1. Visit the online account login page and select 'Forgotten password?'
  2. Enter your registered username or email address and select Send.
  3. Check your email for the Reset password email. Note: The password reset link expires after 2 hours.
  4. Select Reset password in the email.
  5. Enter and confirm your new password.
  6. Select Reset.

Password requirements

Your password must:

  • be at least 8 characters long
  • contain at least 1 uppercase letter
  • contain at least 1 number

Organisation accounts (multiple contacts) FAQs

Sign in

  1. Go to the online account login page and select Sign in to your online account.
  2. Sign in to your online account.
  3. Select Organisation
  4. Select My Contacts to view the account's existing contacts.

Add a new contact

  1. Select +Add
  2. Select My Contacts 
  3. Complete the details of the contact you are registering
  4. Select Save
  5. Select the Three dots (…)
  6. Select Send invite
  7. Select the appropriate access level.

Note:  

  • Organisation - Admin Access allows administrator accounts to add, edit and remove contacts and edit manage contact access.
  • Organisation – Non-Admin Access is limited to login and submit applications. Access levels can be changed as needed

Sign in

  1. Go to the online account login page and select Sign in to your online account.
  2. Sign in to your online account.
  3. Select Organisation
  4. Select My Contacts to view the account's existing contacts.

Remove an existing contact

  1. Select the contact to be removed
  2. Select the Three dots (…)
  3. Select Disable user

Note: Once access is disabled, the contact will lose access immediately.

If needed, you can reinstate access at any time by following the same steps and selecting Enable user.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) FAQs

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. When you sign in your online account, you may be asked to verify your identity using one of the following methods:

  • A one-time security code sent to your email
  • A secure sign-in link sent to your email
  • The Microsoft or Google Authenticator app

Why this change?

MFA helps to:

  • Protect your personal information
  • Reduce fraud and unauthorised access
  • Keep Council's online services secure

Log in using an email code

  1. Go to the online account login page and select 'Sign in to your online account.'
  2. Enter your email address and password and select 'Log on.'
  3. Under Methods, select 'Email code', then select 'OK.'
  4. Check your email for a verification email.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code from the email into the Online Services login page and select 'OK.'
  6. Read and accept the terms and conditions.

You'll then be logged in.

Log in using an email sign-in link

  1. Go to the online account login page and select 'Sign in to your online account.'
  2. Enter your email address and password and select 'Log on'.
  3. Under Methods, select 'Email link', and then 'OK.'
  4. Check your email for a verification email.
  5. Select 'Verify' in the email. (The verification link expires after 7 days)
  6. Read and accept the terms and conditions.

You'll then be logged in.

Log in using the Microsoft Authenticator app

  1. Go to the online account login page and select 'Sign in to your online account.'
  2. Enter your email address and password and select 'Log on'.
  3. Under Methods, select Authenticator.
  4. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.
  5. Scan the QR code displayed on the screen.
  6. Enter a name for your authentication profile and select Save.
  7. Enter the 6-digit code generated by the Microsoft Authenticator app and select OK.
  8. Read and accept the terms and conditions.

You'll then be logged in.

Your code or sign-in link will be sent to the email address registered to your account.

Try these steps:

  1. Check your inbox Your email may take a few minutes to arrive.
  2. Check your spam, junk or deleted folders Your email provider may have filtered the message.
  3. Search your email for:
    • security code
    • verification
    • Sutherland Shire Council
    • TechnologyOne
  4. Refresh your mailbox Some email applications don't update automatically.
  5. Request a new code Select Resend code on the login page.
  6. Check your account email address The code or sign-in link will be sent to the email address registered to your account.
  7. Checking if your mailbox is full
  8. Adding Council's email address to your safe senders list
  9. Trying a different browser or device

If you still haven't received the email, contact us for help.

This can happen if:

  • the code or link has expired
  • you've requested more than one code or link and are using an older one
  • your browser or device has automatically entered the wrong code

Try these steps

  1. Request a new code or sign-in link.
  2. Use the most recent email you receive.
  3. Enter the code manually if your browser or device is using auto-fill.

Application guides

Before you start

Have the following ready:

  • property address
  • lot and plan details (if unknown, you can find them using Shire Maps)
  • email address and contact details
  • debit or credit card for payment

Step 1: Sign in

  1. Go to the online account login page.
  2. Select Sign in to your online account.
  3. Sign in to your online account.
  4. Select Planning Certificate.
  5. Select Apply now.

Step 2: Choose a certificate

Select the certificate you need:

  • Planning Certificate (2)
  • Planning Certificate (2)(5)

If you're unsure which certificate to apply for, visit the Planning Certificate information page.

Step 3: Select the property

  1. Enter the property address or lot and plan details.
  2. Select the lot from the search results.
  3. Check the land and property details.

Tip: Make sure you've selected the correct property before continuing.

Step 4: Add a reference number (optional)

If you want to record your own reference number against the application, enter it here.

You can leave this field blank.

Step 5: Review your application

Check the details you've entered before continuing.

If you need to make changes, return to the previous steps.

Step 6: Pay and submit

  1. Select Pay now.
  2. Enter your payment details.
  3. Complete the security check.
  4. Select Pay.

Important: Don't close your browser or refresh the page while payment is processing.

Step 7: Receive confirmation

After your payment is successful:

  • your application will be submitted automatically
  • a confirmation screen will display your application number
  • note your application number for future reference and tracking
  • you'll receive a confirmation email
  • your Planning Certificate will be sent to the email address provided in your application

Step 8: Track your application

Track your application immediately

  1. Select Track Application on the confirmation screen.

Track your application later

  1. Go to our Online Applications and Tracking webpage.
  2. Select Sign in to your online account.
  3. Sign in to your online account.
  4. Select My Lodged Applications.
  5. Find your Planning Certificate application.
  6. Select View.

Planning Certificates are generally processed within the published service standard. If additional information is required, we'll contact you.

Can I track my application?

Yes. Sign in to your Online account and select My Lodged Applications to view the application's status.

Use this service to request an additional green waste (green lid) bin, recycling (yellow lid) bin, or both for your property.

Before you start

Have the following ready:

  • property address or lot and plan details, if known
  • email address and contact details

Step 1: Sign in

  1. Go to the online account login page.
  2. Select Sign in to your online account.
  3. Sign in to your online account.
  4. Select Request an additional bin.
  5. Select Green waste (green lid) and/or Recycling (yellow lid) bin.

Note: If you are applying for an additional garbage (red lid) bin, please visit our additional residential bin webpage.

Step 2: Complete your application

Select the property

  1. Select the address or land parcel where the additional bin is required.
  2. Enter the address in the search box.
  3. Select Next.

Tip: Check the address carefully before continuing.

Choose your bin type

Select:

  • Green waste bin
  • Recycling bin, or
  • Green waste and recycling bins

Select Next.

Review the summary

Check the details you've entered.

If the details are incorrect:

  1. Select More.
  2. Select Cancel to stop the application.
  3. Select Start again to begin a new application.

If the details are correct:

  1. Select Lodge.

Step 3: Review and lodge

  1. Check the application details, fees and property information.

If the details are incorrect:

  1. Select More.
  2. Select Cancel.

If the details are correct:

  1. Select Finalise and lodge.

A reference number will be displayed on screen to confirm your application has been submitted.

Step 4: Application submitted

After you submit your application:

  • a reference number will be issued
  • the application will appear in My Lodged Applications
  • you'll be contacted if more information is required
