On Sunday, thousands of people hit the streets running for the PAYCE Sutherland 2 Surf, which is Sutherland Shire’s longest running major community event. The event celebrated its 48th year and close to 6,000 entrants made their way from Sutherland to Wanda Beach, Cronulla for the race. Congratulations to all of the winners and to the 200 fastest seeded runners who were placed into the Brooks Pro-Sprint category. I’d also like to congratulate all of the participants for being active and getting involved in this brilliant event that helps raise funds for Wanda Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC). Support from the community and sponsors not only helps make this event possible, but is vital to the effective running of Wanda SLSC. Money raised ensures the club can continue to keep our community safe on our beaches, through training volunteer surf lifesavers and updating vital lifesaving equipment. Runners also have the opportunity to fundraise for their chosen charity by taking part in the race and this just highlights our community spirit in supporting one another. Thank you to everyone who showed their support by taking part and congratulations again.
