In the heart of the Sutherland Shire, Pepe Saya is making beautiful butters that are served across Australia in upmarket restaurants and on Qantas flights.

Pepe Saya Buttery moved its fledgling business to Caringbah premises in 2018. Pepe Saya’s director Melissa Altman, explains, “The move allowed us to stay connected to our partner suppliers and customers, while giving us the space to grow our business and to find local residents to become part of the Pepe Saya team and family.”

The company had started out selling at a Farmer’s Market in Sydney, “with the dream of making a beautiful tasting Australian cultured butter and creating a shift towards using local butter”, says Melissa. Pepe Saya makes the batch-churned butter from Australia’s high quality single origin cream.

Branded with the unique round butter pat that features the iconic Pepe Saya head, the Australian cultured butter has a huge following – a market which the Caringbah buttery has the capacity to supply.

Melissa points out, “We supply to cafes, restaurants, bakeries, airlines and retail stores locally, across Australia and the world. Our butters are served onboard Qantas business and first class.”

The good news for Shire locals is that Pepe Saya also distributes produce very close to home. Melissa adds, “Some great local places you can find our butter are – Next Door Cronulla, HAM Harry & Mario Cronulla, Blackwood Pantry Cronulla, Fred’s Providore, Sealevel Restaurant, Eadie’s Organic Wholefoods, Panetta Mercato Kirrawee and Caringbah Woolworths.”
