By photographing my friends who surf to gain freedom and an escape from reality, the intent behind my body of work was to create a discussion about escapism among adolescents. I am not restricting the audience to the teenage population but rather including anyone who has wanted to escape the stresses of life.
Photography has always provided an escape for me, and when combined with one of my passions becomes a true escape from reality. The pieces are black and white and are intended to show greater depth and emotion than a colour version of the same image.
