Project background
We are excited to update the community about the long-awaited Seymour Shaw Park youth precinct and open space upgrade being constructed in Miranda in 2023.
Council staff are working with design specialists Playce in consultation with local stakeholders to deliver the best possible recreation facility.

Project scope
Key features for Stage 1 include:
- Two deep skate bowls
- Plaza skating
- Parkour
- Outdoor playground
- Climbing
- Extensive seating
- Fencing
- Shade
- Bubblers
Parking changes: During Stage 1 construction at Seymour Shaw Park, the internal carpark and Wandella Road roadside parking will be removed. They will be replaced with two new rows of off-street parking along Wandella Road (to be delivered in stages).
Note: Stage 2 will include major re-levelling of the soccer, netball and cricket fields, toilet upgrades, demolition of netball control rooms upgraded to a multi-purpose building, bleacher seating, Wandella Carpark stage 2, relocation of the cricket nets ( N-S alignment near The Boulevard)
Impacts during construction
The existing internal carpark will be decommissioned and there will be a gap of approx. 3-4 months until new parking is established in Wandella Road.
Parking located north of the Netball control room will remain unchanged.
Construction commenced in early 2023:
- The children’s playground has been replaced with new equipment.
- Several sports field will be impacted during construction.
- Council Sport Services will work closely with the impacted sporting clubs about construction impacts.
