Project background
We are excited to let you know that Council will be renewing the irrigation system at Lakewood City Oval which forms part of a larger recreation precinct.
The installation will enable the continuation of sporting competitions, training and will improve the overall experience for our community and visitors to this precinct.
This irrigation renewal is important to ensure the longevity and quality of the playing surface throughout the season.
Project scope
The work include:
- Supply and installation of an automatic irrigation system.
- Includes smart controls for irrigation and monitoring.
- Trenching of oval and turf remediation.

Detailed Design - December 2023 (complete)
Tender - February 2024 (complete)
Site Establishment – September 2024
Practical Completion – end of December 2024 (weather permitting)
Impacts during construction
The playing field will be closed during construction. The tennis courts, clubhouses, cricket nets, playground and car parking areas will remain open.
We are working with the local community groups to make suitable arrangements for training and competition matches during this important work.
