MEDIA RELEASE - Plenty of places to play this holidays, with suite of playground renewals completed across the Sutherland Shire
Christmas has come early for children across the Sutherland Shire, with a suite of popular local playgrounds stunningly spruced-up in time for the start of the school holidays.
Under Sutherland Shire Council’s playground renewal program, significant works have been conducted to refresh eight much-loved playgrounds across the Sutherland Shire, offering a range of engaging new play equipment to appeal to local youngsters.
And with the newly completed upgrade projects spread throughout the Sutherland Shire, there will be plenty of opportunity over the summer break for families to get out and enjoy the new facilities available in their local park, or to head further afield and explore other recently upgraded facilities in other parks scattered throughout our local government area.
For those looking to slide into the fresh new facilities available at their nearest newly upgraded playground, there is plenty on offer at;
- Cambrai Avenue Reserve, Engadine
- Hagger Park, Woolooware
- Hawkesbury Reserve, Sylvania Waters
- Kiah Place Reserve, Miranda
- Karda Place Reserve, Gymea
- Third Avenue Reserve, Loftus
- Ward Crescent Reserve, Oyster Bay
Works are currently continuing on an upgrade to playground facilities at Australia Road Reserve, Barden Ridge, with this playground expected to be reopened to the public on Christmas Eve.
Sutherland Shire Mayor, Councillor Jack Boyd, said he was delighted to see so many playgrounds completed in time for the school holidays.
“No matter where you go in the Sutherland Shire you’ll find some amazing playgrounds and an extensive range of equipment specially designed to offer something to kids of all ages and abilities,” Mayor Boyd said.
“If you’re looking for something fun to keep the kids entertained over summer, what better way than getting out and being among the first to enjoy the amazing new facilities installed at some of our favourite local parks and reserves.
“With the amazing summer weather we are currently seeing across the Sutherland Shire, there has never been a better time to get the kids together, head outside and run, slide, swing and bounce through all the amazing new equipment our team has installed in park near you.
“With the Kiah Place and Hagger Park playgrounds completed earlier this week as the latest additions to our suite of upgraded playgrounds, I’d encourage all local families to get out and have fun among the new play equipment at the many recently freshened-up playgrounds across the Sutherland Shire.”
