MEDIA RELEASE - Gymea Village set to shine for another evening of community entertainment

Local residents are encouraged to take part in community celebrations taking place at Gymea Village this weekend. There will be live performances, activities and lighting displays, as the town centre is once again set to shine for the final instalment of the popular event ‘Gymea Nights’.

Sutherland Shire Council together Gymea Chamber of Commerce, has been hosting the ‘Gymea Nights’ festival as part of the NSW Government’s ‘Festival of Place’ initiative, which sees communities across NSW stage performances and events as a welcome boost to the live entertainment and small business sectors.

Following the successful events staged on Saturday 2 and 9 April, Gymea Village will once again welcome live musicians, lighting displays and free activities for children on Saturday 16 April, between 5pm to 8pm.

Sutherland Shire Mayor, Councillor Carmelo Pesce said he encourages local residents to get out and enjoy the activities on offer this weekend, and to pay a visit to local businesses in and around this area.

“It’s been an exciting couple of weeks hosting Gymea Nights with the Gymea Chamber of Commerce, to support local businesses, musicians and entertainers – many who have been doing it tough throughout the pandemic,” Mayor Pesce said.

“Our town centres are important community spaces where people have always enjoyed catching up with one another, enjoying a meal and taking advantage of the variety of retail offerings on display. By staging this series of events, we hope to get people out and about enjoying all these things again, and to show off one of the Sutherland Shire’s most attractive town centres.”

Council is also hosting a competition running concurrently with the event, where participants can win a $150 gift voucher to spend at their favourite Gymea restaurant. For a chance to win:
