Sunset Cultural Ceremony, Burnum Burnum Sanctuary, Woronora
You’re invited to listen and learn about First Nations culture and storytelling at our Sunset Cultural Ceremony. Come along and enjoy an evening of reflection and join in the yarning circles, support local First Nations stallholders and a delicious Sutherland Rotary BBQ.
The Sunset Cultural Ceremony will be presented by local Aboriginal elders at Burnum Burnum Sanctuary in acknowledgement that for First Nations Peoples, Australia Day carries different connotations.
The sunset cultural ceremony, performed against the stirring backdrop of the Woronora River, provides a solemn and respectful way to engage with the profound significance of this day for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Local Elder Dean Kelly invites people to “Give yourself the opportunity to join us in this important conversation about who we are as people in this country”
