Australian Design Centre at Hazelhurst

Event details

SAT 26 NOVEMBER 2022 to SUN 29 JANUARY 2023

Hazelhurst presents three exhibitions from the Australian Design Centre over summer with a focus on jewellery, object design and ceramics from over 90 acclaimed national and international artists and designers.

Made / Worn: Australian Contemporary Jewellery

From intimate pieces to large scale works, the contemporary jewellery in Made / Worn: Australian Contemporary Jewellery explores the act of making and how jewellery is worn on the body, telling stories that start with the artist and continue through the life of the object worn or experienced, creating new resonances with owners into the future.

Made/Worn: Australian Contemporary Jewellery is curated by Australian Design Centre, designed by Garbett Design and supported by the Australia Council for the Arts.

Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft\Prue Venables

Acclaimed ceramicist Prue Venables is the ninth artist in the Australian Design Centre's Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft series. Prue Venables' sculptural artworks possess clarity, luminosity and a quiet beauty. The works in this exhibition explore the significance of everyday objects through multiple sequences of forms in porcelain, with additional elements in metal and wood. The forms are simple and elegant, with a minimal colour palette and create a distinctive visual language.

Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft\Prue Venables was researched and developed under a Federal Government Visions of Australia research grant and is ADC’s major national touring exhibition for 2019 - 2022. The tour is also supported by the Visions of Australia program and Australia Council for the Arts.
