About Sue

I have been a Family Day Care Educator with Sutherland Shire Council for more than 20 years.

I began by providing a service to local parents with demanding work hours, as I had the time to assist. Family Day Care allowed me to care for my own young children at the time, as well as others who were struggling to find support.

I thoroughly enjoy the experience of operating my own service. Over the years I’ve created strong connections and friendships with many local families. The children have taught me a lot over the years!

My husband and I now have two wonderful adult children.

Qualifications and training

• Diploma of Children’s Services (Early Childhood Education & Care)
• Certificate III in Children's Services
• Senior First Aid
• Statement of attainment in ‘Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at Risk of Harm’
• Emergency asthma management
• First aid management of Anaphylaxis

About my service

I welcome multicultural communities and embrace Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.  I can speak, read and write Greek and English and it’s not uncommon for the children to sing a Greek song or two.

I believe in educating and teaching young children through their own initiated play. At my Family Day Care, children have the opportunity to discover and explore.

We connect with our outdoor world and natural environment, using natural resources wherever possible. The children use their senses as they learn through touch, taste and the smell of nature, including feeding food scraps to our backyard worm farm.

About my facilities

My service is located on the western side of the Princes Highway in Kirrawee.

We offer a purpose-built early education learning room detached from our residential home. Air conditioning caters for all seasons and ensures a comfortable temperature while indoors.

We spend many hours outdoors in our sunny, covered backyard. It is a peaceful and enjoyable space for the children to explore.
