Family Day Care is nurturing, safe and fun. With only four children in care in the Educator's own home, it mirrors the warmth and security of a family environment.

About Tracy

My career spans almost 25 years caring for and educating young children.

I joined Sutherland Shire Council Family Day Care 10 years ago after working in Early Education Centres. I established my service with the intent to work from home with a small group of children, whilst caring for my own children.

My children have now grown and I continue to enjoy working in this small group childcare setting.

It is a delight to develop close relationships with the children and their families. I adore helping children to grow into happy, confident individuals.

I grew up in Engadine and continue to live here with my husband and our three children.

About my service

Children in my smaller-scale service feel valued and secure. They develop strong connections with myself and the other children in care.

Our play-based program is the basis for children’s learning. It provides the best opportunities to learn and discover. The daily program reflects each child's interests and developmental goals.

Written observations of each child form part of their individual journals. This information creates a fun and engaging program to promote each child's learning.

Our curriculum includes a variety of planned structured and free play activities including:

  • arts and crafts
  • sensory play
  • blocks and puzzles
  • drawing
  • books and literacy experiences
  • home corner for creative play
  • outdoor play
  • group times with singing, games and story telling
  • regular excursions to our local playgrounds and library for story time

My car has professionally fitted car seats to transport the children in my care. We take excursions to Symbio Zoo, a local apple orchard for apple picking, Camellia Gardens and Hazelhurst Arts Centre. We also attend other Council Family Day Care services for play visits and performances.

About my facilities

My service operates from my own home in Engadine. It is an easy location for parents travelling along the Princes Highway for work.

Our indoor playroom is large, bright and modern. We enjoy plenty of natural light from the big windows overlooking the garden.

The backyard features a large natural grassed area. There is ample space for ball games, obstacle courses and hay bales for climbing.

The children also love the sandpit, gardening and collecting eggs from our friendly pet chickens.
