Learn To Swim Program Recommencement 2020

A limited Learn To Swim Program has commenced at the Leisure Centres.
 
Customers will need to join new session times and days which will be confirmed with you upon confirmation of your recommencement.
 
This reduced program will allow us to provide a COVID-safe environment for our swimmers and spectators.

The swim school program will be available at Sutherland Leisure Centre Monday to Saturday.
The swim school program will be available at Caringbah Leisure Centre Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
The swim school program will be available at Engadine Leisure Centre Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings

 
For customers who wish to re-commence in the program:
• Complete a Request For Class Enrolment Form indicating your preferred day for lessons or call us at Sutherland 8536 9777, Caringbah 9525 6777 or Engadine 9548 4200.
• For customers who previously paid by the term, please complete a Direct Debit Request Form and email to programs@ssc.nsw.gov.au
• Our staff will be in contact with you to confirm your class day and time.
 
For existing customers:
• We will be seeking to increase our program over the coming weeks.
• We will be in contact with you as soon as we are able to accommodate more students in our schedule to confirm arrangements.
• Your details will be kept on our system and no charges will be made unless you choose to re-commence with the program when sessions become available.
 
For customers who wish to leave the program:
• If you have any credits on your account you can fill out a Refund Request Form and we will provide you with a refund.
• You are welcome to re-join the program at a later date if you wish.
 
For customers who are not ready to recommence swimming at this stage:
• No further action is required.
• We will be in contact with you as more sessions become available and you can chose to re-commence when it suits you.

Learn To Swim Program Recommencement FAQs

Q: I want to re-commence my child with the Learn to Swim program. What do I need to do?
A: All existing customers with students enrolled in the pre-school program who wish to re-commence can fill in a Request For Class Enrolment Form or call us on 8536 9777 to re-commence. All customers will need to join new session times and days which will be confirmed with you upon confirmation of your recommencement. 
 
Q: When full lessons recommence, can we continue with the same class (day and time) my child was previously enrolled in?
A: No, at this time existing customers will need to book into new session times. Due to reduced operational hours, limitations on numbers in the program, staffing constraints and our responsibility to provide a COVID-safe environment we will be creating new session times for all customers. We will however do our best to accommodate your preferred day and time where we are able to.
 
Q: Learn to swim sessions were ceased before the end of Term 1. Am I owed money for sessions at that time?
A: All existing customers still enrolled in original classes as at 26 March 2020 when the program/centres closed (approximately two weeks before the end of Term 1), customers were given a credit for the remainder of March or the rest of Term 1 so were not charged for these sessions.
 
Q: I have credits on my child’s account however I wish to leave the program at this time. Can I obtain a refund?
A: Yes, please complete a Refund Request Form and we will process your request.


Q: Are you running classes on weekends?
A: No, currently these classes will only be available from Monday to Friday. As we are able to extend our operational hours we will begin opening up classes to different age groups, including school age programs in the afternoons and weekend sessions. 
 
Q: I am a new customer. Can I enrol my child in your learn to swim program?
A: Yes, we are currently able to accept both new and existing students into our pre-school aged programs at this stage. Once we are in a position to accommodate new customers in school-aged programs or older we will advertise this via our website.
 
Q: I previously paid upfront on a term by term basis. Can I continue to do this?
A: No, all customers re-commencing in the program will be required to pay via direct debit.  Customers who previously paid by the term will be required to complete a Direct Debit Request Form as well as a LTS Agreement Form then email to programs@ssc.nsw.gov.au prior to re-commencing with our learn to swim program.
 
Q: How much does the Learn To Swim program cost?
A: As per our current fees and charges, the cost is $19 per lesson.
 
Q: Can my child stay and play before or after their swimming lesson?
A: No, in order to provide a COVID-safe environment for our customers we ask that you arrive on time for your session and leave the centre upon completion of the session. This will allow us to manage numbers of customers entering and exiting the centre.
 
Q: Can my child’s sibling play whilst my child’s lesson is in progress? 
A: No, at this time we ask that all spectators and siblings remain in the designated waiting areas and maintain 1.5 distance between themselves and others at all times.
 
Q: How many spectators are permitted to accompany each child enrolled in the learn to swim program? 
A: One parent/guardian is currently permitted to attend each child’s lesson. Siblings in the same family will be permitted to attend with the parent/guardian however must remain in the designated waiting area at all times.
 
Q: What are the Leisure Centres doing to provide a COVID-Safe Learn to Swim program?
A: Sutherland Shire Leisure Centres are committed to providing a COVID-Safe swimming environment for our learn to swim students and their families.
• Limitations on spectators permitted at each session – One parent/guardian permitted per student. Sibling spectators permitted.
• Social distancing on pool deck – Please keep a distance of 1.5m between yourself and others at all times. Members of the same household may sit together.
• Children and spectators must sanitise hands prior to commencement of lesson.
• Equipment is disinfected after each class.
• No loitering – customers are asked to leave after class has finished.
• Customers are encouraged to shower at home.
• Payment for swimming lessons will be via Direct Debit only. All other payments for products or services will be via cashless payment at this time.
