Cronulla Boat Ramp, Gunnamatta Bay

Location: Cronulla 3 Tonkin Street View on map

Facilities:

Tonkin Oval is a popular area of public open space on Gunnamatta Bay and is used for organised sport, picnics, walking and other passive recreation.

Facilities

The upgraded boat ramp and new jetty adjacent to the Cronulla Marina provide improved access and safety for waterway users.   The jetty assists mobility-impaired users, and enables small craft such as kayaks to launch into the water and for recreational activities such as fishing and small craft loading and unloading.

A car park services both the boat ramp and the Oval. Limited car and trailer parking is available (17 car/trailer spaces and 14 car spaces).

This project is part of a program of works to upgrade several boat launching ramps throughout the Sutherland Shire.

Notice

The water depth around this ramp is very shallow and these conditions extend from the toe of the boat ramp for 40m. The shallow conditions mean that the boat ramp does not provide access at low tides and is most suited to shallow draft vessels. Please consider the times when using the boat ramp and avoid launching or retrieving your boat during low tide.

If you are launching larger boats you are encouraged to use other ramps that provide deeper access such as Yowie Bay boat ramp.
