Mayor's Message 03 July 2019

Published On 11 July 2019 at 12:30 PM

If you love cats and reading, then we have the perfect event for you! Reading with the Cats is back at our Animal Shelter on Tuesday 9 July and the cats are ready and waiting to hear you read your favourite books. These events have been a real hit in the past, providing readers the opportunity to do some reading out loud while helping socialise cats and kittens awaiting adoption. Cats are great reading companions, as they find the sound of people reading aloud soothing. The program is open to readers of all ages, meaning children can practice their reading skills to promote reading confidence and adults can take a little time out to relax and enjoy books in the company of some furry companions.

Bring along your own favourite cat story book, borrow some books from the library, or choose from the selection available at the Animal Shelter. Because these events are so popular, bookings are required for the 1.30pm, 2.00pm, 2.30pm and 3.00pm sessions, with a drop in session at 3.30pm. If you miss out on a spot there will be more events on Saturday 27 July. Check Council’s website for details.
