There’s only a few weeks left to enter the Sutherland Shire Literary Competition, so I’m calling on all short story and poetry enthusiasts to get your submissions in. Entries close at midnight on Monday 16 December and you could be in the running for some really fantastic prizes. The categories are Short Story, Rhyming Verse poetry, Free Verse poetry and a new category of Short Stories with the theme “2020: Looking Back, Moving Forward”. The winners in each category will receive $1,000 and we will also announce a special Shire Resident’s Prize in each category. There will be other generous prizes on offer, so make sure you remember to dot your i’s and cross your t’s before submitting your entry. This competition is a great way for Council to celebrate culture and highlight our literary talent here in Sutherland Shire and beyond. To find out how to enter, visit
