Get to know Natalie O'Connor

Born in Sydney, Australia, Natalie O’Connor works as a practising artist, researcher and educational professional. With experience in the creative arts, education, retail and international manufacturing industries she has come to understand artists’ colours from many different perspectives. She holds a bachelor of education, master’s degree and is currently undertaking a practice-led PhD at the UNSW art & design. Her practice and thesis are concerned with the behavioural properties of colour and the technical innovations of the artists’ palette that are a result of collaborative dialogue between artists and scientists, since the early nineteenth century. She investigates the materiality of colour by establishing a line of enquiry that observes, identifies and reveals the inherent qualities of colour by engaging deeply within the spectrum of RED.
