My work stems from my parents’ influence on my artistic sensibility through their architectural work. All my life I have been surrounded by architectural drawings and so have gained an appreciation for all kinds of architecture. These sculptures show the development of architecture through history, from ancient times through to the contemporary era, with each form an abstraction of an architectural archetype. As time progresses, the forms in the work become less solid. In designing the piece I sifted out the fundamental element of each structure, such as the transference of weight in a column, or the grid of a high-rise building.
