Ink on paper
Caught explores the impact of our subconscious degradation of the planet and how it affects us emotionally. As the viewer is ‘caught’ by the vision of cute marine species, they are repelled as they learn of the deformities caused by simple, everyday objects. By using ballpoint pens I was able to construct intricate artworks in order to reel in an audience. Each individual animal is entangled and distraught in one of the deadliest destructions: degradation of the oceans. This connects the viewer emotionally, forcing their attention to the fact that despite our destructive ways we still want to connect with nature.
