Asylum seekers and refugees have formed part of Australia’s identity. Domicile hybridises varying cultural patterns and designs to represent the intertwining layers of culture in Australian society. Inspired by the raw stylistic approach of street and propaganda artist Shepard Fairey, the three panels portray the unspoken dialogue between the Australian government, asylum seekers and the role of Australian society. Domicile attempts to compel audiences into reflecting on the way in which we have been influenced by the government and whether that is a true reflection of our cultural understanding of refugees and asylum seekers.
