Laced with Corruption
3D printing, porcelain slip cast (lace)
My work considers the way in which our society overlooks traditional values. I focus on the rapid development of modern society, and how growth in contemporary technology and processes has manipulated the inner workings of our culture. The world has developed into a globalised machine. While it is evident that there has been an evolution in our abilities to connect, there has also been a shift in ethics, challenging the way we perceive labour, leisure, and ideology. This is essentially invading our lives with a forceful intimacy through the corruption of technology. It’s through this that once-valued practices such as lacemaking are now lost.
