Weapons of Mass Reproduction
Acrylic on canvas
Since people have become increasingly reliant on technology, it can be feared that we are slowly adopting the clockwork monotony of machines into our lives. This notion forms the basis for my steampunk work, in which I explore the destruction of humanity’s uniqueness and livelihood, as we gradually become lifeless automatons. The mechanised parts of the pregnant woman depict this loss, symbolising how the female form has become a weapon as a force for our own destruction. Despite all this, the endearing form of the pink foetus offers us the hope of a continued organic existence.
