Have your say on the Bush Fire Risk Management Plan

The Bush Fire Risk Management Plan is a strategic document that identifies community assets at risk and sets out a five-year program of coordinated multi-agency treatments, with the aim of reducing bush fire risk to the local area.

The importance of having a robust plan was highlighted during April 2018, when a large bush fire affected the Menai area - a combination of measures implemented before the fire resulted in minimal damage or loss occurring to the community.

An essential component in reviewing and updating the Plan is receiving input from the community. It is the community which is often most at risk from bush fire due to proximity to bushland, and community input early in the planning process is invaluable.

Please submit your comments relating to bush fire management in the Sutherland Shire by emailing sutherland@rfs.nsw.gov.au with feedback closing on 1 December 2020.
