Introducing: Recycle Smart PickUp Service
Starting March 2020, Sutherland Shire Council is launching a new service in partnership with Recycle Smart - an on-demand collection service for unwanted clothing and soft plastics. For $2 a bag, residents can book a special recycling collection using the PickUp service and have their items collected from home. It’s a more convenient and cost-effective way to recycle and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
I'm a resident, how can I book a Recycle Smart PickUp?
- Collect your soft plastics and used, good quality clothing in a shopping bag (up to max. size of 40x20x20cm).
- Book a PickUp at www.recyclesmart.com/pickup and nominate a day that suits you, you don’t need to be home!
- Recycle Smart does the rest! Place your bag/s outside your door. Recycle Smart will even leave your reusable bag for you to use again.
- Feel good about reducing your waste!

Over 65, no internet and want to recycle?
In partnership with Council, RecycleSmart is trialling a phone booking service for residents who are over 65 years and don't have internet but who want to recycle things that can’t be put in recycling bins. If you meet this criteria, simply follow the steps above but instead of booking online phone - 0413 596 016 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm). You'll be asked for your name, address, no. of bags, and date of pickup. Not sure if it's recyclable? Ask RecycleSmart when you book.
