Cronulla Rock Pool South will have seven temporary closures for scheduled cleaning and maintenance in 2018.
The Cronulla Rock Pools are a much loved swimming location for residents and visitors alike. Cronulla Rock Pool South is an Olympic sized tidal pool adjacent to the Esplanade. The pool was designed to naturally flush by the action of tide and wave overtopping the seawall to maintain water quality. However, with changing seasonal tides and ocean conditions, the pool frequently fills with sand and seaweed reducing the available water depth. This continual in-filling necessitates regular pool closure and mechanical removal of the sand to re-establish water depths.
Cronulla Rock Pool South will be temporarily closed for scheduled cleaning and maintenance during the following dates in 2018 (weather and ocean conditions permitting):
- February 26-28
- March 26-28
- April 23-24
- July 09-11
- September 04-05
- November 19-20
- December 19-20

Each cleaning requires the removal of approximately 2000-2500 m3 of sands and requires regular pool closure
Location
Address: 10R Ozone Street, Cronulla
