2017 Maintenance Closure Dates for Cronulla Rock Pool South

Cronulla Rock Pool South will have seven temporary closures for scheduled cleaning and maintenance in 2017.

The Cronulla Rock Pools are a much beloved swimming location for residents and visitors alike. Cronulla Rock Pool South is an Olympic sized tidal pool adjacent to the Esplanade.  The pool was designed to naturally flush by the action of tide and wave overtopping the seawall to maintain water quality. However, with changing seasonal tides and ocean conditions, the pool frequently fills with sand and seaweed reducing the available water depth.  This continual in-filling necessitates regular pool closure and mechanical removal of the sand to re-establish water depths.

Cronulla Rock Pool South will be temporarily closed for planned cleaning and maintenance during the following dates in 2017:

  • February 6-8
  • April 3-5
  • June 19-21
  • August 16-18
  • October 30-31, an November 1
  • December 11-13
