Commercial Food Businesses

Reducing or eliminating food odours

Commercial food premises can reduce or elimate air pollution through the use of odour controls and properly maintained mechanical exhaust systems. It is important to regularly clean and maintain grease filters and odour control equipment. This ensures these systems achieve their designed performance standards.

Discharges and odours from food business cooking processes may impact upon nearby development if the mechanical exhaust system isn't properly designed and maintained. The system must be designed in accordance with Australian Standard - AS1668 Part 2 - 1991.
