The Sutherland Shire Council Animal Shelter is operated in partnership with the City of Sydney Council. The shelter houses dogs and cats that have been found stray or abandoned or have been seized. If animals cannot be returned to their owners, the shelter seeks new homes for them.
Dogs and cats may also be surrendered to the shelter but only under specific circumstances, and by prior arrangement. Please contact the council to discuss your situation.
All dogs and cats are desexed, lifetime registered, vaccinated and microchipped before they are rehoused. They also leave the shelter with a collar and council-made tag. The shelter has a wide range of dogs and cats for sale, including puppies and kittens, as well as mature pets. All are temperament tested prior to being put up for adoption.

Low-Kill Policy
Our shelter operates under a 'low-kill' policy. This means that only those dogs or cats assessed to be either a danger or having an illness that would affect its quality of life are euthanased. We are proud of our track record in re-homing pets of all shapes and sizes.
