What's the Difference?
When you make an interlibrary loan request we will make every effort to supply that item for you, based on the information you supply to us. We will inform you when the item is available or if we cannot supply the material you requested.
Suggestions for purchase are assessed based on the library's Collection Management Strategy. The library may or may not decide to purchase your suggestion. Either way, we do not inform you of the result; it is your responsibility to check the library catalogue periodically to see if the item has been acquired.

Mostly, yes.
Some libraries will only lend items on the condition they are used within our library.
Occasionally other libraries add this restriction to a particular item because of its condition, cost or rarity.
To ensure our continued ability to participate in resource sharing with the wider library community this restriction may be applied by us when items are supplied for customers with outstanding fees or a poor borrowing history.
-
The owning library determines the length of the loan. Loan periods are not standard.
Renewals may be possible if requested just prior to the due date, depending on the policy of the owning library.
Items may be recalled by the owning library at any time. Recalled items must be returned promptly.
