SP2 Infrastructure

The SP2 zone is a ‘special purpose’ zone used to provide infrastructure and related uses, and to protect infrastructure from development that is not compatible with or that may detract from the provision of infrastructure.  Examples of where this zoning is applied include Defence land, railways and classified roads.

As directed by NSW Planning, the SP2 Infrastructure zone replaces the current ‘special uses’ zone in those locations where there are no adjacent ‘prescribed zones’ (as set out in the Infrastructure SEPP) for the existing use.

SP2 zone uses

The permitted use is annotated on the Land Zoning Map.  The purpose identified on the map is permitted with consent, including any development that is ordinarily incidental or ancillary to the use.

Food and drink premises and Roads are also permitted with consent.

All other uses that are not listed are prohibited in the zone unless they are specifically permissible under State Environmental Planning Policies such as State Environmental Planning Policy (Infrastructure) 2007.
