General Information
The next Council Election is due to be held on Saturday 8 September, 2012. The Sutherland Shire Council Local Government Area is divided into five Wards. To find out which Ward you live in and your current Councillors go to Find my Ward.
Candidate Information
The Department of Local Government has prepared a publication "Becoming a Councillor" which gives an overview of local Government in NSW and outlines what a Councillor's role is, what support is available for councillors and how to nominate as a candidate for local government election. Sutherland Shire Council will be holding a Candidate Information Seminar on Thursday 28 June, 2012. More details on this seminar will be provided shortly.
All local government candidates have obligations under the Election Funding, Expenditure and Disclosures Act 1981 (the Act). More information can be found at the Election Funding Authority website.
