This week is National Volunteer Week and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the many volunteers we have in our community. Sutherland Shire has more volunteers per capita than anywhere in Australia, and I’m incredibly proud of that! We’ve had over 50 volunteers sign up to Council’s Loneliness Project over the past 12 months and I’d like to thank and celebrate our residents who invest their time, skills and energy into helping others. If you have ever thought about volunteering, there are always opportunities to get involved. Whether it’s assisting with social support programs or care services for those living alone, there are numerous groups and organisations that could do with the assistance and support. Everyone has something valuable to offer and volunteering can be a great way to meet new friends and learn something new. Your support can go a long way for our local community! For more information on how you can volunteer visit sutherlandshire.nsw.gov.au/Community/Volunteering or visit your local community centre.
