On Monday 29 April, at 11am, Council will remember the landing of Lieutenant James Cook and his crew, and the Dharawal community who lived in the Kamay area in 1770. The Meeting of Two Cultures is an annual ceremony that acknowledges the Gweagal community of the Dharawal Nation and the first encounter with the crew of the Endeavour. There are traditional dances, storytelling and a guided walk along the Burrawang Walk, followed by a BBQ. This special event offers a rich display of culture for the whole community to enjoy and it really is an event I look forward to every year. So, bring your family and friends along for a picnic in the park and be part of this significant day. The Meeting of Two Cultures will be held on the shoreline at Commemoration Flat, Kamay Botany Bay National Park, Kurnell. I hope to see you there!
