This Sunday, our amazing Council lifeguards will once again be taking on their Waverly and Randwick counterparts in an epic 30 kilometre fitness challenge to raise money for the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation. The aim for this year’s challenge is to raise ‘$20,000 in 2020’ to support the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, to purchase lifesaving equipment. Many Sutherland Shire families rely on the specialist care provided by the hospital for their children, so I’m calling on the community to get behind our lifeguards and support them to achieve their goal this year. It will be a true ‘battle of the beaches’ with lifeguards vying for the title of best on the coast as they run, paddle board and swim from Bondi Beach to Cronulla Beach. Come along to Cronulla Beach from 10am this Sunday to cheer our Lifeguards to the finish line, enjoy a free BBQ and you may even see some famous faces in the mix. Don’t forget to dig deep for a great cause and if you can’t make it on the day, you can still donate through the fundraising page Imagine, if everyone from the Sutherland Shire donated $1, we could raise over $200,000!
