Cr McLean O.A. M – is Assistant National Secretary of the Australian Services Union (ASU), he has been a full time Elected Officer of the Union at National and State level continuously, since 1982, to date. Cr Mclean has extensive experience in Local Government, the Electricity Industry, public sector reform, has participated in a range of projects and forums, both within Australia and Internationally, including at the A.L.P, ILO, ADB, PSI and OCED, Standards Australia, from Skilled Labour, Workers capital through to Climate Change.
Cr McLean is a long term activists with the public services international (PSI), including PSI Asian Pacific electricity, Water, Utilities and Local Government Network Coordinator and works with domestic and international Unions and the broad Labour movement. He held a range of positions around the National Training agenda including Director positions as well as Advisory Committee membership positions on Industry Skills Councils. Was a member of the Federal Governments Expert Panel to Advise on Australian Constitution Recognition of Local Government, Director of electricity state owned corporations, in the 1900’s and 2000’s, during a time of progressive change. Award “Order of Australia”, for Services to Industrial Relations, “Life Member of the ALP”, holds a “Scroll of Honour from Unions NSW” and is White Ribbon Day Ambassador.
