Cr Kent Johns

Emeritus Mayor 

(This title is awarded by Local Government NSW (LGNSW), the peak industry association that represents the interests of all NSW Councils.  To qualify for the title Emeritus Mayor a Councillor must have served a minimum of three one-year terms as Mayor.  Cr Johns served two terms as Sutherland Shire Council Mayor and one term as Rockdale City Council Mayor).

Party: Liberal Party (NSW).

Served at the former Rockdale City Council 1995-2004 including one Mayoral term 1998-1999. 

First elected to Sutherland Shire Council in 2004. Previously served as Mayor 2012-13 and 2014-15.

Recipient of the Local Government NSW Outstanding Service Award in 2016 for 20 years service as a Councillor in Local Government.

Cr Johns was the previous Acting President NSW Liberal Party and Former Vice President Liberal Party NSW. He was re-elected to Council in 2016 and now has over 25 years experience as a local Government Councillor.

Cr Johns owns and operates a local manufacturing company that operates in the water infrastructure industry. Previously he had senior roles in the Water Infrastructure and Chemical industries.
